The Supremes did OK…

June 30th, 2003

…when they put the smack down on anti-sodomy laws last week (although they bungled the Internet filter case, to be sure). Scalia revealed himself yet again to be the best example of what Republicans like to accuse liberal justices of being: judicial activists using the bench to further their political agendas. And interesting story subsequent [...]

Hey, it’s Marc

June 30th, 2003

You know you’re getting old when you think to yourself, “Do I call him an ‘old friend’ when I’ve only known him for six years?” Time was, six years seemed like it was a monstrously large fraction of my entire life. Now, I’ve got a kid who’s almost six, and it seems like we’ve had [...]

35 is turning out pretty well, so far.

June 30th, 2003

My birthday was excellent. I slept in, and was woken to Mona stomping into my room yelling, “Happy Birthday Daddy”, and Isabel bringing in a bunch of balloons. Yatsze followed with the Sunday Times, the Boston Glob, and a large mocha. There is no better way to wake up. A day spent with the kids, [...]

More reasons to keep posting

June 30th, 2003

Look for this story to get sidelined everywhere. Again, there’s a minority group heavily persecuted by an ignorant, puritanical majority, and the majority is wrong and the minority is right. I’d still smoke a little pot if I didn’t have kids: I have visions of needing to respond to an emergency and being unable to [...]

Espresso heaven, on its way to me

June 28th, 2003

Just ordered a Gaggia Coffee Deluxe espresso machine from WholeLatteLove.com. It’s my birthday tomorrow, and Yatsze told me my present a few days ago: a new Starbucks Barista espresso machine. Some friends of ours have one and they love theirs; meanwhile, the Krups machine we got for our wedding has never been able to produce [...]

Still, I have CSS trouble

June 23rd, 2003

I hate CSS.

‘Bout Time

June 23rd, 2003

So I downloaded the full 2.64 Movable Type install, because the upgrade fuxored my old install. I could make new posts, but they wouldn’t show up on my blog page. They’d get entered into the database, they’d show up as archives, but not on the main page. So I finally just reinstalled everything, and it [...]

Getting there

June 23rd, 2003

For some reason, the Archive links don’t work. Gah. And the right-side panel is spilling into the center of the page. Ah, well. I’ll get a pro (Hi, Misha!) to help out again.

MT is sort of a pain

June 16th, 2003

Movable Type is without question the best blog software out there…once it’s set up. Setting the pig up is another matter entirely. I mean, it took hours and hours initially, and now, to upgrade to 2.64, it’s a nightmare of uploading files to different directories and changing permissions and the vague paranoia that I might [...]

Jeez

June 16th, 2003

Now the last entry I made isn’t showing up in the main index. I *knew* upgrading would screw me, I just knew it. I upgraded because I thought perhaps there were some security flaws fixed, or something, and this is what I get.
