I’m back

September 29th, 2005

“Harry was gone?” you ask. Yep. I went to the emergency room late Tuesday night, and emerged from the hospital yesterday afternoon, and it feels like I’ve been away for a week. I went in around 1am, having suffered through some major stomach pains for about five hours. It was really bad, my stomach was [...]

A step forward, nine steps backwards

September 27th, 2005

al-Zarqawi’s main lieutenant has been killed in Iraq. The victory rings a little hollow when a few paragraphs down there’s news of another suicide bombing, killing nine Iraqis and wounding 21. It’s a mess. It’s just a damned mess.

What Fuckers

September 27th, 2005

“All the Dover school board did was allow students to get a glimpse of a controversy that is really boiling over in the scientific community,” Thompson said.” (from CNN.com) There. Is. No. Controversy. In. The. Scientific. Community. Evolution is a provable scientific theory. Creationis^WIntelligent Design is nothing more than a propoganda campaign by religious zealots. [...]

New CSS

September 27th, 2005

Another CSS update. After getting the new free Opera, I realized how ugly the old page looked in other browsers, so I snagged a sounder WordPress theme and adjusted the stylesheet fairly heavily, with a snoring bulldog and Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy providing the background soundtrack to this utterly pointless late-night endeavour.

It talks about things that I have talked about for a long time, the twin paths of Innovation versus Execution, in the context of Nintendo, its new Revolution console, and the newly announced controller (essentially a motion-sensitive remote [...]

I was talking about racism the other day…

September 22nd, 2005

Here’s more of it: It concluded suspects who murdered whites were almost four times more likely to be sentenced to death than those who killed Hispanics, and three times more likely to be sentenced to death than those who killed blacks. “To put it bluntly, there’s apparently different values being placed on victims from different [...]

Yeah, Pirate Day is over

September 19th, 2005

So the pirate talk filter is off. Aren’t you glad. Ruby is doing well. She had some hives late yesterday, and still had them today, which I think is mostly just the stress of the change in her life. We gave her some Benadryl and they went away. She is pretty much my dog: she [...]

Talk like a Pirate

Yeah, it’s that time of year, it’s Talk Like A Pirate Day.

Ruby settling in

September 18th, 2005

Ruby spent a very pleasant night here at Casa Mark y Teasley. She slept in a wire crate next to our bed: she whined a little, but that only lasted ten minutes or so before she settled down and went to sleep. It was really nice to hear all the grunty, snory, wheezy sounds of [...]
