Trade deadline rumors: M’s sign umpire Mark Carlson

Carlson ejected Richie Sexson, He of the Mendoza Batting Average, today when Richie argued a call at first base. Ben Broussard replaced him, and hit the game-tying home run in his next at-bat. Why Broussard isn’t in the lineup more often, I’ll never understand.

He’s three for three tonight in the All-Star game with the first ever inside-the-park home run in an All-Star game. Wow. I was happy to hear the news that he’s in serious negotiations with Seattle for a 5-year contract. WooHoo.
