Another Roman who should die in a fire

September 30th, 2009

“The arrest of Roman Polanski… opens the way for actions of which no one can know the effects.” Hmmm… How about everyone just agree to not be fugitive rapists of 13-year-old girls? Would that be cool? Is that a way out of this terrible dilemma? Would that be too onerous? Given quaaludes and alcohol, protested [...]

Hey Apple!

September 29th, 2009

Mail.app is still unreliable about moving flagged spam to the spam mailbox. It flags it, and keeps it in the inbox. If the iPhone is not going to have spam filtering, then I want the Mail.app client that’s running to reliably move this crap, so mail on my phone is usable. It’s been buggy like [...]

Has spam increased lately?

September 29th, 2009

Has there been another uptick? I’ve been getting a lot slipping through the gmail filters, and certainly a ton more in my other accounts. If I had the superpower of being able to mentally kill someone from across the planet, I’m thinking bin Laden might be my second stop, with the goddamned spammers being first.

Reading this article made me think of Pat. And now I’m bummed.

Heh

Gotta love NPR. Reading a story about Zazi, the suspected bomb-making terrorist, and ran across the perfect public radio metaphor: “That’s important because the bomb-making instructions Zazi was allegedly following called for heating up acetone and hydrogen peroxide to beef up their concentrations — the way one might boil down wine to get a reduction [...]

Mail.app irritation

September 24th, 2009

There’s a menu item, “Mark”, for marking mail as read, unread, whatever. The really annoying thing about it is certain things are toggles. Read and Unread are toggles. Junk and Not Junk are toggles. That’s OK if you only have one message selected, but what about when you have multiple messages selected? It only offers [...]

Jeez

September 23rd, 2009

I can’t imagine further information about this incident being a relief: a census worked hanged with “FED” written on his chest. Could be suicide, could be a red herring to lead folks astray, but given the climate, my cynical side is telling me that this is the vicious fruit of the right-wing scare machine and [...]

Useless waste of time

September 23rd, 2009

I made a favicon for the site. Whee.

Feh

September 22nd, 2009

At least they haven’t resorted to actual stickers yet. I’ve found, over the past few days, magnet bumper sticker things on my car. One day, it was just a yellow “support our troops” ribbon, which I threw away: I’m all for the troops, but screw those stupid ribbons. And I figured someone just found one [...]

Guy Sparger and his wife – poor, unfortunate woman – are the Hungry Knife Art Collective, and they will sell you stuff. What you make is all you control.
